2-Hidroxietil metacrilato (HEMA) es un líquido incoloro y viscoso que se utiliza ampliamente en la producción de polímeros y como monómero en diversas aplicaciones, incluyendo adhesivos, recubrimientos y materiales dentales. Presenta un grupo hidroxilo (-OH) y un grupo metacrilato, que contribuyen a su reactividad y capacidad para sufrir polimerización. HEMA es soluble en agua y en disolventes orgánicos, lo que lo hace versátil para diferentes formulaciones.
