2-[2-(2-Undecoxyethoxy)ethoxy]ethanol is a surfactant that is used as an emulsifier in many industrial applications, such as paints and coatings, inks, insecticides, and pharmaceuticals. It is also used to produce thickening agents and other additives for foods. 2-[2-(2-Undecoxyethoxy)ethoxy]ethanol is an anionic surfactant with a pH of 2.5. This compound has been found to inhibit microbial growth on medical devices, but can cause bleeding when applied to wounds or burns.
