KPI-10 is a new fluoroquinolone antibiotic with potent bactericidal activity against gram-negative organisms. KPI-10 has been shown to be active against clinical isolates of Acinetobacter baumannii, Enterobacter aerogenes, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Serratia marcescens. This drug also has in vitro activity against Haemophilus influenzae and Moraxella catarrhalis. Due to the safety profile of KPI-10, it is an attractive candidate for treatment of infectious diseases including those caused by gram-negative bacteria.
