Descripción:
Poli(ácido acrílico) (PAA) es un polímero sintético caracterizado por sus unidades repetitivas de ácido acrílico. Es un polímero aniónico soluble en agua que exhibe propiedades únicas, incluyendo alta viscosidad y capacidades de espesamiento, lo que lo hace útil en diversas aplicaciones como adhesivos, recubrimientos y productos de cuidado personal. El PAA es conocido por su capacidad para formar geles y su comportamiento sensible al pH, que le permite hincharse en condiciones alcalinas mientras se contrae en entornos ácidos. Esta propiedad lo hace valioso en sistemas de liberación de fármacos y como material superabsorbente en productos de higiene. Además, el PAA puede interactuar con iones metálicos, mejorando su utilidad en el tratamiento de aguas y como dispersante.     CAS:
    Poly(acrylic acid) solution is a polymer that is used in water treatment. It has been shown to be effective in removing sulfate and carbonates from water. Poly(acrylic acid) solution has a molecular weight of about 10,000 Daltons and a number average molecular weight of about 4,000 Daltons. This solution is supersaturated with poly(acrylic acid) but it does not form crystals because it crystallizes at high temperature and pressure. The polymers are adsorbed onto the surface of the particles in the water and then can form crystals when the polymers are forced to nucleate by lowering the temperature or increasing the force applied to them.
