Celulosa, éter 2-hidroxipropílico, comúnmente conocido como celulosa hidroxipropílica (HPC), es un derivado no iónico y soluble en agua de la celulosa. Se produce mediante la eterificación de celulosa con óxido de propileno, lo que resulta en la introducción de grupos hidroxipropílicos en la estructura de la celulosa. Esta modificación mejora su solubilidad en agua y solventes orgánicos, haciéndolo útil en diversas aplicaciones. HPC se caracteriza por su capacidad para formar soluciones claras y viscosas, lo que lo hace valioso como agente espesante, agente formador de películas y estabilizador en productos farmacéuticos, cosméticos y alimentarios.
