It is synthesized through the condensation of 5-bromo-2′-deoxyuridine and 4,4′-dimethoxytrityl chloride. This compound has been shown to inhibit the synthesis of DNA and RNA in vitro. It also has anticancer properties and can be used for the treatment of leukemia.
