It is a primary amine with a chiral center, which makes it useful for the synthesis of epoxyeicosatrienoic acids, which are found in chemokines and have been shown to have antagonistic properties. 2,4-Dichlorobenzylamine has been shown to inhibit the activity of chloride channels and chemotaxis in leukocytes. This drug also has been shown to inhibit the formation of uv-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) and lipid peroxidation in rats.
