Telomerasa
La telomerasa es una enzima que añade secuencias nucleotídicas repetitivas a los extremos de los cromosomas, conocidas como telómeros, manteniendo así su longitud y protegiéndolos de la degradación. La actividad de la telomerasa es crucial para la proliferación indefinida de las células, particularmente en células madre y células cancerosas. Los inhibidores de la telomerasa son de gran interés en la investigación del cáncer, ya que pueden limitar el potencial replicativo de las células cancerosas, lo que lleva a su muerte.
