It inhibits the growth of cancer cells in culture by inducing apoptosis and cell cycle arrest. 6-Methoxyindole-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester has been shown to be effective against breast cancer cell lines in vitro and to inhibit the proliferation of breast cancer cells in vivo.
