Cuban-1-ylmethanol has been shown to form oxime derivatives when reacted with either hydroxylamine or hydrazine. The crystal structure of the product was determined by x-ray crystallography, and the mechanism for this reaction was proposed to be a transfer of methyl groups from Cuban-1-ylmethanol to an oxygen atom on the substrate.
