It is a synthetic compound that inhibits the soluble form of guanylate cyclase by binding to its active site. 8-Bromo-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-one has been shown to inhibit the production of cGMP in rat brain homogenates and in intact cells. The crystal x-ray diffraction data show that 8-bromo-2H-1,4-benzoxazin 3(4H) one is an organic molecule with a molecular formula of C6BrNO3 and a molecular weight of 214.8 g/mol.
