It has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the growth of cancer cells and preventing the carcinogenic properties of some chemical compounds. 2-{[(Furan-2-yl)methyl]amino}-5-sulfamoylbenzoic acid has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells, with no evidence of toxicity in rats. The compound was found to be safe for use in humans, but its carcinogenic activity could not be ruled out.
