This compound also has a pK value of 4.4, which indicates that it is weakly acidic. 2-Bromo-2-nitro-1,3-propanediol can be used as an analytical method for the determination of p - hydroxybenzoic acid in aqueous samples by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
