    Reagecon's 2M Ammonium Sulphate (NH₄)₂SO₄ Double Junction Electrode Filling Solution must be used in the outer chamber of a double junction reference electrode for pH or ion measurement, in situations where Potassium Chloride or Potassium Nitrate should not be used. Chloride (Cl-) anions can form insoluble precipitates with Hg++, Cu++, Ag+ or Pb++ which will block the diaphragm of a single junction reference electrode. Potassium may react with anions such as perchlorate (ClO₄¯) to form Potassium Perchlorate (KClO₄). In these situations Reagecon's 2M Ammonium Sulphate Double Junction Electrode Filling Solution is an ideal compromise. - A good electrolyte must fulfil a number of conditions. The equitransference of the cation/anion combination should be as close as possible to being equimobile, have constant chloride activity, be of high electrical conductance and be as non-chemically reactive as possible.
