Ang-(1-7) has vasodilatory and anti-oxidative effects, and exerts protective actions in hypertension, diabetes, and other cardiovascular disorders, Ang-(1-7) therefore represents a promising therapeutic target for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Ang (1-7) exerts its actions via its G-protein-coupled receptor, Mas. This novel arm of the RAS has effects that counterbalance those mediated by the classical ACE/Ang-II pathway.The C-terminal proline fro this peptide is in the D enantiomer.

    Optimal peptide substrate for kallikrein-related peptidase 14 (KLK14). In its intact state this peptide is not fluorescent, however when this substrate peptide is cleaved by KLK14, Rhodamine 110 is released and thus fluorescence can then be detected. KLK14 is most abundant in the skin, with lower levels in breast and prostate and may form part of the protease cascade responsible for maintaining the epidermal barrier. Aberrant KLK14 proteolytic activity is linked to several skin pathologies. Overexpression of KLK14 seen in several hormone-dependent cancers, including prostate, colon, ovarian, and breast, correlating with higher risk of disease progression.
