Descripción:The 6-Fluoro-3-indoxyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside is a powerful antituberculosis drug that falls under the category of rifamycins. It is highly effective in treating tuberculosis infections, thanks to its bactericidal activity. By binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, this drug inhibits bacterial growth by preventing transcription and replication. Its potency has been demonstrated through patch-clamp technique experiments on human erythrocytes. The active form of this drug undergoes various metabolic transformations, including hydrolysis, oxidation, reduction, and conjugation with glucuronic acid. Additionally, it specifically targets markers expressed in Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains and inhibits their cell growth in culture.
