CTGF protein binds to TGF-β1, a key regulator of cell growth and differentiation, and inhibits its activity. This inhibition leads to a decrease in collagen production, which is important for tissue repair and remodeling. CTGF protein has cytotoxic effects on human serum and can induce apoptosis in certain cell types. Additionally, it has been shown to interact with other growth factors such as epidermal growth factor and histidine amide, further enhancing its biological effects.
