Descripción:The 6-Fluoro-3-indoxyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside is an active compound that belongs to the class of antituberculosis drugs known as rifamycins. It is highly effective in treating tuberculosis infections. This drug exhibits bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial growth through binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, preventing transcription and replication. The high frequency of human activity has been demonstrated using a patch-clamp technique on human erythrocytes. 6-Fluoro-3-indoxyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside undergoes various metabolic transformations, including hydrolysis by esterases or glucuronidases, oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, reduction by glutathione reductase, or conjugation with glucuronic acid. Additionally, it specifically targets markers expressed at high levels in Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains and inhibits cell growth in culture.
