Descripción:The 6-Fluoro-3-indoxyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside is a powerful antituberculosis drug that falls under the class of rifamycins. It is highly effective in treating tuberculosis infections, thanks to its bactericidal activity. By binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, this drug inhibits bacterial growth, preventing transcription and replication. Its potency has been demonstrated through patch-clamp technique experiments on human erythrocytes. Metabolized through various transformations, including hydrolysis by esterases or glucuronidases and oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, it shows great promise in combating Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains.
