Descripción:The 6-Fluoro-3-indoxyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside is an antituberculosis drug from the class of rifamycins. It is highly effective in treating tuberculosis infections and contains active compounds that exhibit bactericidal activity. This drug inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, preventing transcription and replication. Its efficacy has been demonstrated through patch-clamp techniques on human erythrocytes. The active form of this drug undergoes various metabolic transformations, including hydrolysis, oxidation, reduction, and conjugation. Additionally, it specifically binds to markers expressed in Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains, inhibiting their growth in culture.
