It has been shown to be genotoxic and may cause cancer. 1,1,2-Trichloroethane has been shown to inhibit the activity of glutamate dehydrogenase and arginase in mice. The mechanism by which 1,1,2-trichloroethane causes genotoxicity is not well understood. Linear regression analysis has shown a correlation between the concentration of this compound and the degree of genotoxicity in mice.
