Descripción:2-Chloro-4-phenylphenol is a biphenyl compound that inhibits the growth of bacteria. It has an inhibitory effect on bacteria, and it also inhibits the production of bacterial enzymes. 2-Chloro-4-phenylphenol has been shown to have antimicrobial properties in vitro assays with subtilis. This compound is also used in polymer films for the prevention of microbial invasion. It has been shown to be effective against gram positive and gram negative bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. 2-Chloro-4-phenylphenol can be used as a preservative agent because it binds to hydroxyl groups or intramolecular hydrogen bonds on polymers and other substances and prevents them from forming bonds with microbes.
