• Descripción: 3-Bromophthalic acid is an isoquinoline alkaloid that has a wide range of biological activities, including antimicrobial, anticancer, antiviral and antifungal. It has been shown to be active against Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae as well as Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. 3-Bromophthalic acid is also effective against yeast and fungi such as Candida albicans and Trichophyton mentagrophytes. The antimicrobial activity of 3-bromophthalic acid is related to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of RNA by binding to the ribosomal RNA (rRNA) in the bacterial cell.
