Descripción:Efloxate is a collagen analog that inhibits the activity of the enzyme lysyl oxidase. This inhibition prevents the cross-linking of collagen and leads to a reduction in collagen production and tissue hardening. Efloxate has been approved by the FDA for treatment of cardiac disease, autoimmune diseases, and some cancers. The drug also has anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit inflammatory bowel disease.Efloxate is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract after oral administration and has been shown to have an absorption enhancer activity in rats with colitis.
