Descripción

2-Methoxy-4-nitro-5-methylaniline is a sulphamic acid salt of an amine. It has been used as a colouring agent in the manufacture of food, drugs, and cosmetics to make them appear more yellow. The sodium salt has been used in the synthesis of dithionite and sodium carbonate. 2-Methoxy-4-nitro-5-methylaniline is also used as a corrosion inhibitor for copper, brass, and nickel alloys.
2-Methoxy-4-nitro-5 methylaniline is used for the detection of tartrazine (yellow dye) in foods by reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography (RPHPLC).
