1H,1H,2H-Heptafluoropent-1-ene (HFEP) is a liquid phase mitigant that can be used to mitigate the effects of radiation. HFEP has been shown to be effective in copolymerization with isobutene and irradiation to form a polymer with desirable properties for use as a heat shield. It has also been shown to be an effective catalyst for trifluoroacetic acid equilibration on pentene. The thermodynamic properties of HFEP have been explored extensively, including the effects of primary amino groups on the stability and reactivity of HFEP. Additional research has been done on the effects of temperature on HFEP, exploring how it affects its properties and reactivity.
