Isodictamnine is a sample preparation agent for high-performance liquid chromatography and liquid chromatography. It is used in the pharmaceutical industry to improve the purity of medicines, such as drugs for Alzheimer’s disease. Isodictamnine inhibits the activity of amyloid precursor protein (APP) by binding to the beta-secretase enzyme and preventing it from cleaving APP. This leads to decreased production of Aβ peptides that are associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Isodictamnine has also been shown to inhibit the production of hydrogen bond, which may be important in understanding its mechanism of action.
