Isosakuranin is a polysaccharide that has been shown to have anti-diabetic properties. Isosakuranin has been shown to reduce blood sugar levels in diabetic mice by binding to the protein, heat-shock protein 70 (HSP70), which is involved in insulin secretion. This agent also has antioxidant activity and can protect cells from oxidative damage. Isosakuranin is extracted from the mushroom Coriolus versicolor and is used in dietary supplements as an extract of ternata or etoac. The extract of ternata and etoac are used for their ability to improve heart health, with antioxidant activities that help prevent cardiovascular diseases and lower cholesterol levels.
