1-Amino-3-methylbutane hydrochloride is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of amines. It is a weak base with a pKa of 10.5 and is soluble in water, ethanol, acetone, ether, and chloroform. 1-Amino-3-methylbutane hydrochloride has been reported to be an inhibitor of fatty acid synthesis in the liver and the heart. This inhibition may be due to its ability to complex with fatty acids or inhibit the hydroxylation of fatty acids by competing with coenzyme A. The transport properties of 1-amino-3-methylbutane hydrochloride have been studied using a model system with simulated blood flow through a capillary bed.
