Benzal diacetate is a diphenyl ether, which is used in the synthesis of methyl ketones. It is a solid dispersion that can be formed by reacting benzene and acetone with hydrochloric acid, followed by reaction with hydrogen chloride gas. The product of this reaction is an inorganic acid that is soluble in organic solvents. Benzal diacetate has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and can inhibit the production of leukotriene D4 (LTD4). This compound also inhibits protein synthesis and fatty acid metabolism in the body, which may cause weight loss.
