Descripción

Isobutyl sulfide is a colorless liquid with a pungent odor. It is used as an industrial solvent and in the manufacture of rubber, plastics, and pesticides. Isobutyl sulfide has been shown to activate the immune system by increasing the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and modulating the gene expression of cells involved in immune response. It also inhibits protease activity, which may be due to its ability to inhibit histone deacetylase activity. This chemical is also used in molecular modeling studies to study protein-protein interactions.
