2-Propyl succinic acid is a branched-chain organic acid that is a member of the alpha-hydroxy acids. It is found in urine samples and is excreted by the kidneys. 2-Propyl succinic acid has been shown to be an efficient method for the detection of hydrocarbons in plasma concentrations, amides, silicone, and carboxylates. 2-Propyl succinic acid also has pest control properties, making it a potential candidate for use as a silicon or pharmaceutical preparation. The functional groups are carboxylic acids and amides.
