2-(3,4-Dimethoxyphenyl)ethyl]amine hydrochloride is an antibacterial agent that is a silylating agent. It is also known as amide and has been shown to be effective against bacteria in the laboratory. 2-(3,4-Dimethoxyphenyl)ethyl]amine hydrochloride binds to the amine group of amino acids in proteins and prevents them from functioning. This drug has been shown to decrease blood pressure in rats by dilating blood vessels. 2-(3,4-Dimethoxyphenyl)ethyl]amine hydrochloride may have dopaminergic activity on the central nervous system due to its structural similarity with phenylacetonitrile and its ability to cause dose-dependent decreases in heart rate.
