2-Ethynyl-1,3,5-trimethylbenzene is an organic compound with the chemical formula C9H14. It consists of a benzene ring substituted at its second and third positions with two methyl groups. This compound has been isolated from a number of natural sources such as coffee beans and cocoa beans. 2-Ethynyl-1,3,5-trimethylbenzene has also been synthesized in small quantities by reacting trimethylsilylacetylene with copper(II) acetate. The light emission properties of this compound have been studied extensively and it has been shown to be capable of emitting both visible light and ultraviolet light.
