• Descripción: 3-Acetyl-4-hydroxy-6-methyl-2H-pyran-2-one (3AHP) is a biologically active compound that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. It is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and can be used in the treatment of inflammatory conditions such as asthma, arthritis, and colitis. 3AHP has been shown to increase the rate constant for the reaction between dehydroacetic acid and dehydroacetic. This increased rate constant was found to be due to a change in the response element for the gene encoding for ribonucleotide reductase. 3AHP may also have neuroprotective effects, which may be related to its ability to upregulate brain functions such as mitochondrial functions, neurotransmitter levels, and dopamine receptors.
