Descripción:2,4'-Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) is a chemical that is used as an insecticide. It has been shown to have significant interactions with cellular physiology and immune function. DDT can cause autoimmune diseases by altering the activity of the immune system's cells and suppressing the body's ability to fight infections. DDT binds to serum proteins in the blood stream and alters the levels of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), which regulates inflammation in the body, leading to increased disease activity in experimental models. DDT also has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis by binding to human serum albumin. This chemical is metabolized to DDE or DDD, which are more potent than DDT.
