The molecular orbitals of 1,3-dimethyl-1H-indole are highly polarized and it reacts more easily than other indoles with azides and aldehydes. This reactivity provides a way to synthesize vinyl ethers from 1,3-dimethyl-1H-indole with transfer or experimentally.
