2-(Triphenylphosphoranylidene)succinic anhydride is a hyperfine coupling agent used in NMR spectroscopy. 2-(Triphenylphosphoranylidene)succinic anhydride is a mesomeric compound, which means that it has the properties of both a covalent and ionic bond. This compound is paramagnetic and can be detected by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR). 2-(Triphenylphosphoranylidene)succinic anhydride has been shown to stabilize electron-rich molecules by hydrogen bonding with them. It also reacts with ketones to form enolate ions.
