This molecule also reacts with a polarizer, which is used in ft-ir spectroscopy. This reaction leads to the production of an isolated yield of 1-ethynylcyclohexene. 1-Ethynylcyclohexene can be used as a monomer for polymer film production and its reactive nature makes it useful in organic solvents.
