Descripción:5-Bromo-1-methyl-4-nitro-1H-imidazole is a nitroimidazole compound that has been shown to have antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The mechanism of action of this drug is not fully understood, but it is thought to be due to the ability of the drug to act as a substrate for bacterial nitroreductase enzymes, which are involved in nitrogen metabolism. 5BrNMI also inhibits DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV and may inhibit cell wall synthesis. 5BrNMI can be used as an alternative treatment for infections caused by staphylococci or epidermidis.
