Cyclohexyl 4-methylbenzenesulfonate is an organic compound that is used in the synthesis of dyes and pharmaceuticals. It is a sulfonyl chloride that can be formed by the reaction of trifluoroacetic acid with primary alcohols. Cyclohexyl 4-methylbenzenesulfonate has been shown to react with azobenzene and epoxides to form cross-linking agents. It also reacts with chlorides to form zirconium oxide, which is used in the production of semiconductors. The elimination reactions of cyclohexyl 4-methylbenzenesulfonate have been studied using D2O as a solvent, which shows that it undergoes hydrolysis when heated at high temperatures.
