4-Chloro-1,2-benzisothiazole is a diazonium salt that is used as an insecticide. It has been shown to be toxic to insects, such as the cabbage looper and Colorado potato beetle, by forming a diazonium salt with the amino acid tyrosine in their bodies. This process leads to oxidation of the insect's proteins and DNA. 4-Chloro-1,2-benzisothiazole also has been shown to be effective against other pests such as ants and cockroaches. This insecticide is not toxic to mammals because it does not accumulate in tissues or body fluids.
