Descripción:Scandium chloride hydrate is the chemical compound with the formula ScCl3HO. It is a white crystalline solid that is insoluble in water and organic solvents. Scandium chloride hydrate has a low toxicity, but reacts violently with strong oxidizing agents such as nitric acid or perchloric acid. Scandium chloride hydrate can be used to produce other compounds such as zirconium and zirconium oxide by heating it with hydrochloric acid or ammonium nitrate. The 13C-NMR spectroscopy of Scandium chloride hydrate shows that it contains two chlorides, which are responsible for its chemical stability.
