Descripción

Cyclosporin V is a natural antibiotic that has been shown to have antiparasitic and antibacterial activity. Cyclosporin V is also an antiviral agent that inhibits the synthesis of viral DNA or RNA, and is used to treat HIV-1 infection. This compound was first isolated from the fungus Tolypocladium inflatum and is a member of the group of cyclopropylidene macrolides. It has a molecular weight of 536.5 Da and chemical formula C37H53NO11, with high purity in a range of 98% to 99%. Cyclosporin V is soluble in water and ethanol, but insoluble in ether. Cyclosporin V was originally identified as an anticancer agent, but it has since been found to be effective against other microbes, including bacteria and fungi.
