Descripción

Cefixime is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that belongs to the cephalosporin family. It is used to treat infectious diseases, such as pneumonia, urinary tract infections, and gonorrhea. Cefixime is most active against Gram-positive bacteria, such as staphylococci and streptococci. Cefixime inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of prokaryotes and interfering with protein synthesis. In vitro studies have shown that this drug has a good solubility in water and organic solvents. The experimental solubility data can be used for control analysis of the solubility in aqueous solutions at various concentrations of sodium citrate (NaCit) or in other reaction solutions.
