Cefatrizine propylene glycol is a scrubber, reaction solution, enzyme inhibitors, and antimicrobial agent. It is used as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial for the treatment of infections caused by bacteria or fungi. Cefatrizine propylene glycol has been shown to be active against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Clostridium perfringens. This drug also has anti-inflammatory properties that may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. Cefatrizine propylene glycol is used in pharmaceutical preparations as an antibiotic and can be found in cancer medications such as capecitabine, which inhibits cell division by blocking DNA synthesis.
