(1S,2S)-2-aminocyclohexanecarboxylic acid is a diastereomer of the amino acid glycine. (1S,2S)-2-aminocyclohexanecarboxylic acid has been shown to bind to peptide sequences in the protein target and inhibit their function. It is also used as an intermediate for the synthesis of other compounds with catalytic asymmetric synthesis. This substance is a nucleophilic reagent that reacts with electrophilic groups on proteins such as aldehydes and nitro groups in order to form stable covalent bonds. Asymmetric synthesis can be achieved by substituting one of the amines with a fluorine atom. The two enantiomers are not mirror images of each other because they differ in the orientation of their plane of symmetry.
