7-Iodoisoquinoline is an antiviral drug that has been shown to inhibit the replication of a wide range of viruses. It has been shown to be effective against clinical isolates of HIV and SARS coronavirus, as well as other pathogens. 7-Iodoisoquinoline binds to viral proteins and blocks their interaction with the cell membrane, inhibiting viral entry into host cells. The antiviral activity of 7-iodoisoquinoline is dose-dependent and can be seen in vitro experiments using human cells infected with HIV or SARS coronavirus.
