Descripción

Erythromycin belongs to the group of antimicrobial agents. It is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial growth by binding to ribosomes and preventing protein synthesis. Erythromycin has been shown to be effective against streptococcal pharyngitis, but there are statistically significant differences in its antibacterial efficacy depending on the type of bacteria. There have been reports of cardiac effects following administration of erythromycin, which may be due to its ability to increase levels of potassium in the blood or via drug interactions with other drugs.
