Descripción:2-(2-Methylpropyl)benzoic acid (MPBA) is a hydroxy acid that has been shown to exhibit immunosuppressive properties. MPBA inhibits the proliferation of T lymphocytes, which are cells involved in immune responses. This inhibition was found to be due to inhibition of protein synthesis and may be related to the functional group. MPBA also inhibits viral replication by interfering with the production of viral vectors and can be used as a therapeutic agent for hyperproliferative diseases such as cancer.
